Öresundskraft’s carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at the Filborna waste-to-energy plant has secured a total of €57 million in public funding — €54 million from the EU Innovation Fund and €24 million from Sweden’s Industriklivet. The support highlights the project’s potential to significantly reduce emissions and positions it as a key enabler of Sweden’s and the EU’s climate goals.
Powering Helsingborg’s path to net zero.
With the capacity to capture and permanently store 200,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually, the CCS initiative is a cornerstone of Helsingborg’s ambition to become climate-neutral by 2030. The funding accelerates both technological implementation and the city’s leadership in sustainable energy innovation.
