A National Step Toward Net Zero: Industriklivet Boosts Helsingborg’s CCS Ambitions.

The Swedish Energy Agency plays a vital role in driving the nation’s transition to a fossil-free society. Through its flagship funding program, Industriklivet, the agency supports innovative projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Sweden’s industrial and energy sectors.

In 2025, Öresundskraft’s CCS initiative at the Filborna waste-to-energy plant in Helsingborg, Sweden, received €24 million in funding from Industriklivet. This national support reinforces the importance of carbon capture and storage in achieving Sweden’s climate targets and aligns with Helsingborg’s ambition to become climate-neutral by 2030.

For Öresundskraft, the funding accelerates the implementation of groundbreaking CCS technology, enabling the capture and permanent storage of 200,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually. For Helsingborg, it is a crucial investment in sustainable energy production, ensuring the city remains at the forefront of climate innovation.
